Purple card for an Amethyst Lady

My Daughters partner asked me to make an Amethyst card for his Mother's birthday very appropriate for a February birthday. I have used some of my favourite colours on this card Elegant Eggplant and Perfect plum. I saw this card in different colours on the Internet but can't remember who made it, but thank you for the inspiration. Last Saturday a friend of mine had her Baby shower, I decided to make a side step dresser card. I wasn't sure if it was a Girl or Boy so I decided to go for Certainly Celery as the color for my card. I cased this card but can't remember who originally made it, but thankyou for sharing, I loved how it turned out so I decided to make another one as a sample to keep. I used some of the small stamps in the Baby Bundle Set for the certainly Celery Background.

Christmas has come and gone

Well Christmas has come and gone, just where did the last year go, I'm not quite sure. Here is a picture of our Christmas tree which I took at about 2am on Christmas morning just before going to bed, the bike was just one of Olivia's many presents.

My Christmas tree is black, so I decided to make a few of my Christmas cards in black & white. I found a card while searching the net which I loved it also uses some of the Silver Glimmer paper out of the Summer Mini, I cased this card from Jan Farring, it is basically the same except I used the ornament punch and embossed the black piece around this instead of using the Mocha Morning Designer Paper.

For my Mini Catalogue Open on Sunday Home I decided to case the card from the front cover of the catalogue, but using different colours. This card is quick and easy but very effective, I changed it by using different colours and was very pleased at the way it turned out.

A Cute little Christmas tree

I had some time to myself today so needless to say I headed for my studio to do some crafting. A Little Twisted and a bit slack

I have been a bit slack with my blogging the last few weeks, but I did have a good excuse, I had family visiting from Sydney, two of my sisters and a niece, we had such a fabulous time catching up, one Saturday evening we all stayed the night at my Sister's in Orewa and had a girls night in watching the three Twilight Movies eating a fabulous dinner and drinking Midori's. (I went to Breaking Dawn last night). This was the first time in 5 1/2 years that five out of seven of us were together.
Needless to say I forgot to blog the Twisted Easel card I demonstrated at our Christmas themed WOW paperKRafters team event at the end of last month. I used one of my favourite old fashioned stamp sets Winter Post. This card was based on a card my upline karen received from another Demo.

A Red Christmas

As promised here is the second card we made in class, this time I have used the new A la Carte stamp Welcome Christmas, I decided to make this card in the tradional colours of red and white. This is another of my favourite christmas stamps and of course I just love the tradional colours. This is was also my swap for the Stampin Fun day out in August. To get the crinkled look on the Cherry Cobbler piece I sprayed it with water then scrunched it up then opened it up to dry before adding it to the embossed Whisper White with Dimensionals.

A Snow Swirled Christmas

I thought it was time to start some Christmas card classes seeing Christmas isn't that far away, so the first card we made was with a stamp set I love, plus I wanted to make one of the cards a little different so decided to make a Slider Card which I had seen on Mekeesha Byl's blog a while ago.

The inside of the card with the sentiment on just slides out by pulling the ribbon, I have stamped the sentiment at the bottom so that you can still write at the top.

Yesterday I had some time to myself so I decided to case a card I saw on Sandi MacIvers Blog, it uses the stamp set French Foliage. I must admit this stamp set hasn't seen much ink so I was really pleased when it appeared in the new catalogue. I loved the way Sandi stamped and coloured her leaves. On my card instead of designer paper I used a piece of Early Espresso with the debossed side up and Hemp twine with a brad instead of a piece of ribbon.

Today I would like to share a couple of birthday cards with you, last week both my daughter's celebrated their birthdays. There's 3 years between them but their birthdays are 3 days apart. Needless to say it was a busy week with Fathers day Sunday last week then Bex birthday last Wednesday and Emma's on Saturday, then yesterday (Sunday) was Emma's partner Sonny's birthday. We had dinner out twice last week which I must say was lovely as we don't do that very often.
On both cards I have used the Mother of Pearl technique which is now one of my favourite techniques.
The first card is the one I made for Bex it is a complete case (except for the bird) of a card Dawn Griffiths made which I fell in love with.

On Saturday I had My Catalogue launch, and needless to say when my Ladies received their catalogue they all loved it, I think it is fabulous and one of my favourite stamp sets adorns the cover.

This is the sample I made for my class card, I have used the same colours on each card but it just goes to show how differently they can turn out, with the first one I blended the colours more by very slightly sponging over the previous colour which gives it a much softer colour.

I made this second card the weekend after class to show how differently they can turn out even though I used the same colours but a little more ink on the sponge and didn't blend the colours as much which gives it the darker effect.

Cherry Cobbler one of my favourites

My favourite colour out of the red shades is Cherry Cobbler it is such a deep red, doesn't the name Cherry Cobbler just conjure up the most delicious thoughts, (Cherries are my favourite summer fruits). I love the Bleaching Technique this is a card the ladies made at class on Monday evening,
I got the idea for this card from another demonstrator I'm sorry I can't remember who.
The bleached part is the sails. The moon is punched out with the edges sponged in Basic Gray then lightly sponged with Crumb Cake. I did use Very Vanilla cardstock although in this picture it looks more like Whisper White

This little birdie

A few weeks ago I showed you one of the bleached cards I demonstrated in class this one was made by Karensa, instead of using the Elements of Style she used the stamp set Every Moment, after using the bleaching technique on the reeds and bird Karensa coloured the bird and then used a tiny pearl for the eye and gave the butterfly a few spots. I Love it. Karensa celebrated a special birthday this weekend, I hope you had a fabulous day my friend.

Whoops I am a day late with my blog post. I made this card at Jacque Pedersons Popping Pastels class on Monday evening (another page to add to my technique album, yay) we used the Friends 24/7 stamp set, which is now a must have.This is such an easy technique to do and I love the colours, being able to go to classes as you know can be such fun and of course Monday's class was fun, it is a great way to catch up and also have a chat while crafting as long as you listen to the instructions for your projects, lol.

Technique's Album

Stephanie's Grunge Rock Birthday

Yesterday afternoon (Sunday) I demonstrated how to make the stationery box that Rachael Knight showed us how to make at Stamp Camp in February. Stephanie chose the colours she wanted for her set at first I wasn't to sure how they would look together but the finished set turned out fabulous it was such a nice afternoon that I even had time to make up the whole set for myself while demonstrating. When we were finished we sang Happy Birthday and had srumptous gluten free Chocolate cupcakes (they were so nice) baked by Stephanie and her friend.

The main stamp set we used was Grunge Rock perfect set for a teenager, although I love it myself.

At class last week I taught the Bleaching Technique, this is one of the cards we made, I learnt this Technique at a class with Jacque Pederson, I changed the background matt to black and instead of using Designer Paper we stamped the Blushing Bride Cardstock with Versamark.

A Quick Little Tip

I was having a little play around on the weekend and wondered if you could colour our Basic pearls.

I used a Stampin Write marker to colour the pearls while it was still on the backing sheet , I adhered the Pearl to a little flower I cut out with the Boho Blossoms Punch, then heated it with the Heat Gun for only a couple of seconds be careful as if you heat it for to long the pearl will be ruined, (don't touch it as it might not be dry), I left it for a few hours to make sure it had dried completely.

Auckland Regionals

It was Auckland Regionals for all Stampn'Up Demonstrators on Saturday and what a fabulous day we all had. This is a day we as Demonstrators all look forward to as we get to make projects with a free stamp set we receive (which is yet to be released). Our New Zealand Manager Emma, and the Creative Trainer Sophie from Sydney demonstarte new Techniques and projects to make, plus some fabulous projects you can make with the Big Shot. Lovely as a Tree Reflections

On this card I have used the technique called Reflection, you stamp the image onto a piece of acetate then turn it over and upside down and line it up under the trees you have already stamped onto your card stock.

It has been an absolutely horrific week for everyone who lives in Christchurch since the Earthquake struck last Tuesday, can you remember what you were doing at that time I can, I was going about my usual routine for work, but for so many people who live in Christchurch it has changed their lives, I can only imagine how they must be feeling. I have Family and Friends who live there but thank goodness they are okay, but there are so many who have lost a loved one or their possession's or homes. My heart goes out to them. If you can please make a donation even a few dollars will make a difference.
I made this card it seems so appropriate for how I feel.

As I promised here are a couple of the Birthday cards I received, the first one I received from my good friend and fellow Demonstrator Debbie. She has used the large swirl stamp from Barogue Motifs and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit die, this is one of my favovourite dies, and don't you just love the Antique brad on the ribbon, thank you Debbie.

The second card was from another fellow Demonstrator Delys Cram. She has used my favourite Sale a Bration stamp set Bliss and my favourite new red Cherry Cobbler with Soft Suede.

A little Bliss

A week ago I was lucky enough to spend my Birthday in Rotorua with 31 other Stampin' Up! demonstrators, we made 5 projects. Oh boy and what a fabulous weekend we had.
The ladies made my birthday very special by giving me a birthday cake with candles ( I didn't count them of course) mind you there wasn't one for each year lol, plus singing Happy Birthday.

Time to create

I have had some time to create over the last week, so I tried out a technique called Split Negative which I haven't done before. I am quite pleased with the result but not sure which background or colour to use. Which one do you like.

Of course with Valentines on the Horizon I thought I would make some cards with the I (heart) Hearts stamp set as my brain just would not work I cased a card from Bev White & Starzimom, the last one was a Stampin Up color challenge but I can't remember who it was made by, I have changed them slightly,

Up Date, Back to work, Blog Land and Classes

Well Christmas is well and truly over and I am back at work, I had a couple of weeks off and honestly I don't know where the time has gone. I did some spring cleaning and also got to make some cards.
I am in the middle of planning my classes, some of the projects on my list are Valentines Cards, Neverending card, Masculine & Female Birthday Cards, (adults & childrens) 3D Items (A bag, a Birdhouse etc) also if there is a Technique you would like to learn let me know. (one we will be doing is floating reinker) here is a sample (what are your favourite colours). Karen taught us this technique and its fabulous.

I realised that when we had our team playday Back in November I didn't show you the bag we made this was demonstrated by Lesley Stewart isn't it gorgeous, I just love it. Wouldn't you just love one hanging on your door.

Christmas 2010

Well Christmas is over for another year, I hope you all had a fantastic Day with Family and friends.

I had my Daughters & family at my place, they all stayed Christmas Eve so that we could wake up with my Granddaughter, Nephew and Niece, altogether there were 13 of us, my Stampin Studio became a sleep out for the night with 2 adults and 2 children sleeping out there, my 2 Daughters and Granddaughter slept in the spare queen bed and Sonny slept on the floor beside the bed, my sister slept on the Settee so needless to say it was a full house, we were all up at 7am to open the pressies.

Then in the afternoon the most fun was had with a water fight, my Graddaughter, my Nephew and the 2 big "boys", at one stage I threw a bucket off water over one of the boys but made a hasty retreat when one of them decided to get me back by throwing a bucket of water over me luckily I made the hasty retreat inside lol.

There were lots of laughs and they all had a great time.

I really like using the new Square Lattice Embossing folder it adds another dimension and is ideal for a male card. the Stampin Around Wheel Guide is perfect for getting that straight line with the Stampin around Wheels. Just gotta love those tools that help making cards easier.

On Saturday the WOW paperKRafters team had our Christmas get together and craft day, in all we made 6 fabulous projects it was a fantastic day had by all, Karen our fabulous team leader organised this for all of us and we all had a fantastic day. I used the Petals A Plenty Embossing folder for the wreath , sponged it with Pear Pazzazz, coloured the Berries with a Real red Stampin Write Marker, added a layer of Pear Pazzazz & Real Red cardstock, adhered it onto the main card, added a Red Satin ribbon .

Truckloads of love

It was time to make a male card, so out came Truckloads of love, here's a picture of some of the cards that were made at class, each card was slightly different in either the colour or load in the back. I always enjoy taking class with these Ladies as we do have lots of fun. Plus there are always some Chocolate Biscuits on the table.

I have used the stamp set Sense of Time for my husband's birthday card (which was today), as you can see I haven't put any ribbon on it at all just a little bit of Linen thread which to him would be string. The base card is Chocolate chip although in this photo it looks lighter.

Rich Elements of Style

At first I wasn't to sure about the Elements of Style set but since using it i have fallen in love with it.
This card is cased from Nikki Stalker an Australian Demo who makes beautiful cards, Karen showed me a picture of it and I decided I had to try it and I must say I am pleased with the way it turned out the only thing I have changed is the sentiment.

A Tutorial on How to mount your Stamps

When you have mounted your stamps onto the wooden blocks do you have trouble lining up the sticker with the stamp .
Well here is a great Tutorial on how to mount your stamps using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, watch this video and then try it believe me it works.

Bird Box and Tags

I first made one of these box's at my Fabulous Upline Karens, So I decided I loved it so much I would have a class for my Ladies. Needless to say when I showed it to them they loved it. It sure does involve lots of punching as there are 12 tags . I purchased the Tutorial from Jenny Moors but just changed the Designer Paper and card stock colour to current ones.

Sarah is one of our Newest members to the team and has used Contempo Christmas and Heard from the Heart, the decorations have also been embossed

The next card was made by Claire Hardman the only stamp on this card is the message on the front from Many Merry Messages. Claire has used Punches for the curtains and the tree is sponged using a template for the shape

I love it, Delightful Decorations is one of my favourite Stamp Sets.

The next one was made by my friend and sideline Debbie with the Sparkly and Bright stamp set isn't the Santa just so cute, another set to add to my wishlist.

Judy is another Friend and sideline and used the Two Step Bird Punch and the Perfect Punches set to make this card

I love punchart its time I did some more.

Embossing Glossy Card

This is a sample of one of the cards my lovely ladies made at class on Monday evening, I used a sponge Dauber to add Frost White Shimmer Mist to mine

But their card had one difference, Glossy Cardstock, here is a sample of what the Glossy Cardstock looked like after we embossed it by putting it through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing Folder

doesn't the embossing look fabulous it really made the pattern stand out.

Delightful Decorations Swap

On Sunday the WOW PaperKrafters had team Training, this month we had training at my place in my Stampin Studio here is the card I made for our team swap, I decided to use the Delightful Decorations set which is one of my favourite sets it also has a matching Punch.

For the Decorations I mixed a few drops of Frost White Shimmer with a few drops of Pacific Point then put this mix straight onto the stamp with a sponge dauber, with just a few drops I stamped and punched out about 16 Decorations, by mixing the shimmer paint and reinker you get a paler and shinier image.

A Blue Card in so many ways

A blue card in more ways than one I made this card and couldn't decide which stamp to use on it, in the end I decided that it was such a pretty card that the Happy Mothers Day stamp from Occasional Greetings matched perfectly with the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder.

Now you may be asking why is it a blue card in so many ways, well #1 My Mum isn't with us anymore,

#2 its not Mothers Day, #3 The stamped image is smudged as it got a couple of drops of rain on it (or maybe a couple of tears) but I am sure my mum would love it anyway. When we first lost my Mum to Cancer 41/2 years ago just before Mothers day my eldest daughter naturally went and bought her a Mothers day card as she always had (they were very close) then suddenly realised what she had done, but she still took it up to mum's garden at the cemetery and after 4 1/2 years she still takes her a card or flowers for any special occasion.
So even though its not Mothers Day lets all remember our Mum's.
